" Dub Plates Vol 3 " Music Reviews
Twilight Circus Dub Sound System - Dub Plates Vol 3 (M)
Ringmaster Ryan Moore never disappoints, and in his ninth full album, he once again slathers on his signature reverb over intricate drumming and classic dub bass for that inimitable Twilight Circus creaminess. The perfectly placed wails of static sear the rolling moans of low-slung bass while haunting organ riffs float above. What makes Moore's tracks so stunning is his ability through his instrumentation (all played and mixed himself) and careful panning arrangements to produce a sound that evokes the expansiveness of three-dimensional space. From the bass undulations to the high-flying whines and whirls, and the expansive mid-range effects, Dub Plates 3 is sonic depth exemplified. Step into the tent and hear for yourself. - Selena Hsu (xlr8r.com)

Twilight Circus Dub Sound System
Headquarters: The Netherlands
Latest Release: Dub Plates Vol. 3
Born in Vancouver and now based in Amsterdam, Ryan Moore has been at the
forefront
of the modern dub scene since 1995, recording nine albums as Twilight Circus
Dub Sound System. Ryan Moore honed his chops playing drums for
psych-rock-cult faves Legendary Pink Dots and bass for Skinny Puppy side
project the Tear Garden. He caught a serious dub jones at age 13, though,
and eventually the need to express himself in that genre became too strong
to ignore. Luckily for dub fans, Moore has consistently pumped out excellent
albums that honor the music's tradition while also advancing it into heady
psychedelic realms rarely reached by others in the field. Moore's use of his
own drums beats (rather than programming beats with computer software) and
ability to perform overdubs in real time separate him from his more
clinical-sounding peers.
MUSIKEXPRESS SOUNDS AUG 2002
Twilight Circus Dub Sound System Dub Plates Vol.3 M Records/Cargo **** 4 Stern
Es dürfen also

TWILIGHT CIRCUS DUB SOUND SYSTEM

Dub Plates Vol 3 - M Records/Fusion III
Canadian dub master Ryan Moore releases his third set of special mixes cut for his rockin' live
performances. Dub is increasingly an international language as the sound invented in Jamaican
studios has spread to other musical forms from house to hip hop. Moore keeps things roots-oriented
by focusing on pure reggae captured through tube gear like in the pioneering days. Twilight Circus
dubs are mixed live for that vintage fat and spacious sound, garnering worldwide praise for their
authenticity. The motivating groove is in the drums and the cool low bass lines, with melodic
sprinkles of piano, organ and harmonica echoing throughout devastating versions like "Floor Plate,"
based on his tribute to producer Prince Jammy, "Floorshaker," from the Volcanic Dub release. It's
not for nothing that one of these previously unreleased instrumentals is called the "Depth Charge
remix" because Moore's sound system plates are working at the seismic level!
