The newest release from Twilight C is 'The Essential Collection' a greatest hits / dubs selection spanning the years 1995 - 2002.

Ryan Moore has been very busy over the past few months with a giant studio overhaul. A few technical issues needing to be addressed led to completely stripping the control room bare & a full rebuild / rewiring. Countless hours sawing, hammering and soldering later - the Dub Laboratory is now back in business in a more efficient, organised, and most importantly - working form. Hopefully this will serve to bring you all a steady stream of further musical emissions that much faster.

Before picking up a hammer he had time to produce the new Niels Van Hoorn solo CD 'Colours' which is a sometimes bizarre musical journey through the mind of the Legendary Pink Dots Sax man. In the spirit of Teo Macero's Miles Davis productions - the razor blade technique & old school tape editing was used extensively to alter the recorded pieces. It was a fun project.

(Ryan would not like to see another razor blade or soldering iron for about 10 years.)

Ryan Moore's been a dub-involved, self-taught musician since he was a kid. His solo dub project Twilight Circus, the realization of his musical dream, has taken off in recent years. There have been 8 releases, plus lots of international shows, tours, sales and review attention. The most recent cd release reached #27 on Core radio CMJ charts. Begun as a labour of love, Twilight Circus has grown into a full-time project thanks to many people who've supported TC.

To devote all his attention to dub, Ryan has departed from his ten year role as a member of the Pink Dots. He bids them farewell and tons of luck in their future.

As for Twilight Circus, two new releases are planned for later this year plus shows and collaborations, compilations, and more. Thanks to all who spin, talk about, write about, and encourage TC. just sent away a package to the cd factory for production of 'dub plates vol 2' (m records 180) on cd. this has been very popular as a vinyl lp & it seems a good idea to bring it out now on cd for the listening pleasure of all the non vinyl folks..

you should be able to find this cd in your favorite record shop after about the middle of october...

along similar lines, but for vinyl - 'binshaker dub' m records 150 is getting pressed for the 1st time as a vinyl lp. cutting will be at berlin's dubplates & mastering as usual for fat drums & bass. planned release: mid october.

howdy y'all. so the next mishpucha music-community event is coming up, and im hoping to get some previews written up (or reviewed) if yer into it. we were the ones behind the take back the decks women in underground music festival in may on the frying pan, as well as the romanthony show at 113 gallery last december and the dj assault show at the pyramid in july '99.

MISH-COMMUNICATION

the next phase in our efforts to both make new york a safer place for innovative music and facilitate a community of music-loving freaky folks is our inaugural mish-communication event at Makor, which strives to further forge ties within our increasingly fragmented and apolitical subcultures.

beginning with a 7 p.m. dinner open to all who are interested, a group will meet in the space's dining area to speak freely about a specific issue - still undecided, but most likely relevant to the elections the day before - and participate in open discussions with like-minded people about a non-musical issue, in hopes of producing a resolution of some sort and perhaps a plan of action. as guests arrive for the musical portion of the evening, they will be encouraged to continue the discussion among themselves (subtly, of course) in an effort to further the salon-style environment.

the evening's headline performer is TWILIGHT CIRCUS, a one-man electronic dub master who lives in a small dutch town tirelessly channeling the deep roots spirit through his tiny studio nestled in a national forest. playing all instruments - drums, bass, keyboards - and then filtering them through his magical mixing desk, ryan moore (the man behind the circus) has emerged as a unique voice in the new dub movement: rather than dub-influenced techno or trip-hop, he is a student of the methods that made the heavy plodding riddims of jamaican dub so stellar, so his sound is far more scientist than pole. he also releases all his own records - including his eighth and latest album, dub voyage (promos of which are available from me, see below) - on his own label, M Records.

at Mish-communication, moore will present his music as a unique blend of djing and live playing, as he'll both mix dub records - including many of his own - and augment them with live bass playing and various sonic effects. it should be a dope dub experience. twilight circus will be joined by local freak-hop headz SMALL CHANGE and MOOSAKA, who will present a tandem turntable delight of beats and grooves in the many guises of soul, from outer-space funk to the underground's finest rhymes, as well as DJ SHECKY, in his public debut.

Stolen Legendary Pink Dots Equipment!

after our show in denver on july 2 someone managed to steal niels van hoorn's baritone saxophone. the side door of the club was open after the show - close to niels' side of the stage, leaving ample opportunity for someone to grab & run.

those who have seen the band will recognise it as his biggest horn when playing double sax. it is a very rare a. santoni paré baritone saxophone - serial number: 43911. probably made in the 1950's or 1960's. it was in a black form fitting carrying case.

it is reported as stolen & might turn up in denver pawn shops, second hand music shops or classified ads - etc. if you see it please contact the police so that this stolen item can be returned to it's rightful owner. and also contact our label (info below)...thanks..the legendary pink dots...
